Taster Days

A View from the College

Lancaster & Morecambe College is committed to lifelong learning and so we welcomed the opportunity to work with the Morecambe Bay Hospitals' Lifelong Learning Project. As one strategy to encourage their staff into learning, we are currently holding free taster sessions at the Royal Lancaster Hospital in: stencilling; watercolours; aromatherapy; cosmetic makeup and colour analysis; body massage; healthier lifestyle; and health and fitness.

These are taking place at the hospital, so that staff can easily attend, and the tutors are provided by the College - demonstrating a true partnership. The College produced a flyer and poster and the Learning Reps promoted the taster sessions to all staff, as well as administering names and numbers of those attending.

The response has been fantastic and many of the tasters have been oversubscribed. Initial feedback from some of the staff who attended the aromatherapy session is that they are now considering enrolling on the aromatherapy course at the College, so the tasters have definitely had an impact and have effectively promoted learning.

Due to the positive response received and the good working relationships the College has built with the Learning Reps, we are hoping to hold further tasters in the near future. We look forward to the partnership developing further.
