Learning Representatives: Profiles

Karen Ingram, Project Worker

Hello my name is Karen Ingram, I am the new lifelong learning project worker having taken up the mantle from Helen Speed on the 25th February 2002. I would like to thank Helen on behalf of myself, all the Learning Representatives, the project partners, everyone at Staff Training and all hospital staff who have had the benefit from all the hard work Helen put into getting the project off the ground in the first place, but most of all for ensuring that the infrastructure was put in place to embed the Lifelong Learning Project deep into the establishment of Morecambe Bay Hospital NHS Trust for years to come. We wish Helen every success in her new position in the Primary Care Trust. I am sure she will continue to achieve great things that will benefit everyone who has links with the NHS in years to come.

I intend to build on the success that has already been achieved through the project and by your Learning Representatives and hopefully develop access to even more opportunities for our staff through the learning representative team.

I have been involved with Trade Unions for a number of years and was pleased to become a Learning Representative 18 months ago. The trade union movement has always pushed for access to educational opportunities for all staff regardless of job, age or hours of work. Being part of the Morecambe Bay Hospitals Lifelong Learning Project has given me the chance to see those trade union values through to fruition for our staff across the Bay.

Staff in their hundreds have taken up these opportunities and I hope they will continue to do so with the help, support and guidance of all the Learning Representatives.
