Partners Views: Furness College

Furness College has enjoyed working on the Life Long Learning Project with the Morecambe Bay Hospitals. Learners are completing NVQ Levels 1 and 2 in IT and 2/3 in Business Administration, Reception, as well as Assessor Awards and Internal Verifier Awards. We are looking forward to courses being offered in all areas at the Hospitals including the Works Department, Catering, Cleaning, Care etc.

The College has now established a training area within Furness General Hospital where learners can meet their tutor and plan their study. This has been especially useful to learners, as they do not have to travel to College.

We are training a number of staff in the Assessor Awards, which will allow FGH staff to help assess their colleagues in the workplace. This will forge a stronger working partnership between College and the Hospital and lead to a greater understanding of the needs of learners.

We look forward to the partnership developing further.
