This is the Netscape 4 Preferences dialogue box that shows settings that will:

• load images automatically
• enable Java - powerful applications that can run in their own right within a web browser
• enable Javascript - a language that enhances the capabilities of web browsers
• enable style sheets - style sheets are a way for delivering web information consistently to people browsing the web
• enable AutoInstall - this enables web authors to offer elements in a web site which may require a plugin without the person browsing having to go through the processes of manually downloading and installing the plugin software. A plugin is software that compliments a web browsers by adding new functionality to the web, such as the ability to play live sound, video or animation
• Cookies - cookies are lines of information written to a text file on your computer. Web sites can be designed to write (and later read) small pieces of information which may for instance record whether you have visited the site before and if so, what choices you may have made on a previous visit.
