Flash is a multimedia
technology designed to enhance the web with visually captivating and
interactive animation.
It uses a plugin
tecnology known as Shockwave for Flash. Shockwave is produced
by the leading multimedia software company Macromedia
whose other products include Director (a high powered multimedia
and authoring tool which also requires a Shockwave plugin for web delivery).

- allowing for attractive navigation systems to be designed and dynamic
animated illustration
Scalable - by
right clicking you can zoom into to examine high definition detail
in Flash illustrations
Multimedia -
text, images and sound can all be delivered within a Flash movie
Installation
procedure - What happens when you choose to download Flash?
You will be
connected to the Shockwave Downloads page at Macromedia's website
which is where the plugin is available. Follow the steps they provide.
If not preselected
then choose your operating system (Windows 95, 98, NT, 3.1, or Mac,
etc)
Click the Autoinstall
button once
When the Installing
Shockwave dialogue box appears select the location you wish to download
from (Europe)
The next dialogue
box asks you for your name and e-mail address
Select next
to finish
The whole process
should take about 5 to 10 minutes though can be alot quicker
