Courses for Learning Representatives 2004

Learning is an increasingly important part of the union role. The rapid development of new technologies and the acceleration of economic and industrial change have transformed the world of work. Nowadays, we all need to keep updating our knowledge and skills in order to keep up with the pace of change at work and in the rest of our lives. Amicus ability to deliver skills adds extra value to union membership, particularly at a time of intense change. The opportunity to learn improves the quality of life at work and opens up new opportunities for our members. How can reps help deliver lifelong learning?

Learning Representatives have a key role to play in helping the union deliver lifelong learning in the workplace. They assist members on issues related to learning. This could range from identifying courses for someone to study through to negotiating with the employer for time off.

The Learning Representative courses are designed to equip reps with the skills to broaden the bargaining agenda, and provide additional organising tools for reps to use.
