is a visible symbol to members of the union''s commitment to education.

The College
is dedicated to the education and training of Amicus members,
lay officers, workplace representatives and full time officials.
The College
is open 46 weeks a year and 22 weekends. Some 3,500 members attend
the College each year.
|
 |
 |
The College
brings together members of all ages and backgrounds, from all
sectors of the union and from all parts of the UK and Ireland.
Whitehall
College provides a supportive learning environment which enables
students to make maximum use of their time and the facilities
available. It aims to provide a domestic service which complements
the learning process.
|
The College recognises
that students learn best when they are comfortable in friendly and relaxed
surroundings, with some of the routine day to day pressures removed. Domestic
and support services are regarded as an important part of the educational
experience, and every effort is made to ensure the highest possible standards.
Accommodation/Meals
The College can accommodate 55 students. Most rooms have their own shower
/ toilets. Two rooms are equipped for wheelchair use. All meals are
prepared and served by college staff in two large dining rooms. Meals
include English and Continental breakfast, a buffet lunch and a 3-course
evening meal. Vegetarian food is always available and special dietary
needs can be catered for if notice is given.
Crèche/Childcare
The College has a fully equipped crèche for children under school age.
Places in the crèche are limited so students must apply well in advance
of their course to ensure a place. A childminding allowance is available
to students who leave children at home and incur extra expense in arrangements
for childcare while they are away. Please inform your Regional Officer
in advance if you require a childminding allowance.

Leisure
It’s not all work at the College! There is an outdoor heated swimming
pool, with an adjacent sauna. The 21 acres of College parkland and
the surrounding countryside are ideal for walking. The local running
club always welcomes students from the College. |
Indoor leisure
facilities include a TV lounge, pool table, and darts. The College bars
and the common room areas offer places for students to relax and talk,
or to organise games, quizzes and other entertainment.
