Yorkshire Playwrights is a group of professional and aspiring professional dramatists, active in all the dramatic mediums, stage, television, radio. The group works to encourage the writing and the performing of new plays in Yorkshire and to develop understanding of the dramatist's craft.

BACKGROUND

I am a freelance writer based in York. I enjoy writing and have a particular interest in radio drama. Listening to BBC afternoon drama prompted me to start writing my own material in this genre. In addition I have written non-fiction, poetry, short stories and am currently working on a novel.

RADIO DRAMA

PASTA PRESENT FUTURE
Set in the world of English language teaching. 44 minutes.
Adapted as a short story under the title I LOVED THE LANGUAGE SO MUCH I BOUGHT IT.

ROUNDHAY RINGSTRASSE
An adventure loosely based on the Kindertransport theme, set in Vienna and Leeds. Written in both TV and radio formats. 30 minutes.

SYSTEM SUPPORT
Short-listed for BBC Northern Exposure radio drama competition The Spin.
Performed as part of Thursday Night Live at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds.
Set in York it explores some of the issues surrounding call centres. 15 minutes.
