Helen Shay has a background as a lawyer, reflected in her fiction and non-fiction writing. She has published books on copyright and consumer law, and written on legal topics for various journals. Her drama and prose often employ legal themes. She has had short plays staged in New Writing Festivals at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Harrogate Theatre and Theatre in the Mill, Bradford. Her short stories and poems have appeared in several mainstream and literary publications. Helen is currently taking an MA in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University. Helen also performs her poetry, mainly in venues around Leeds, and has published a joint collection, Binary Star, with American poet, Bee Smith.
