Anthony and Irene Fernandez (editors). 1998, 76 pp.) The Community Pesticide Action Kits (CPAK) have been prepared to help rural communities in Asia think about, organise and to take action on the problems that pesticides cause. With concise text and simple illustrations, CPAK groups the various aspects of concern into nine modules. These modules address issues relating to the dangers of and alternatives to - the use of pesticides. The kits also seek to encourage communities, to act collectively, by being involved in monitoring the adverse effects of pesticide use, and in developing alternative strategies within their communities. "Breaking the Silence" is the first of the set to be published and tackles the issues and problems within the plantation sector.

The kit also seeks to encourage communities, to act collectively, by being involved in monitoring the serious health effects of pesticides and in developing alternative strategies within their communities. The Community Pesticide Action Kits (CPAK) have been prepared to help rural communities in Asia think about, organise and to take action on the problems that pesticides cause. With concise text and simple illustrations, CPAK groups the various aspects of concern into nine modules.


Changing Acres is the publication series of PAN AP’s regional study, covering a total of 14 countries, on sustainable agriculture (SA). The study undertaken in collaboration with IFOAM Asia and the respective country collaborators, include country profiles and case studies, published separately as 40 page reports to serve as quick reference material. The country profiles reflect a macro country overview, including data and analysis of key issues affecting the development of sustainable agriculture. The case studies reflect the micro analysis at farm, community or state levels.
