The following Africa Internet related "projects" have been implemented:- Africa Internet Forum (AIF) which regroups the World Bank, USAID, the US State Department, NASA and the Sustainable Development Network Program (SNDP) of UNDP is going to operate the 15 M$ Global Information Infrastructure (GII) named the Mickey Leland Initiative (LI) that has recently been approved.
- AfricaLink of USAID's Productive Sector Growth & Environment Office of the Africa Bureau is helping related institutions in Africa to be connected.
- African Networking Initiative (ANI) initiated by HLWG on ICT regroups UNECA, UNESCO, ITU, IDRC and Bellanet.
- Capacity Building for Electronic Communications for Africa (CABECA) funded by IDRC is executed by UNECA/PADIS to provide access to central & eastern Africa.
- Commerce-Oriented TradePoint initiative of UNCTAD has received 16 M$ from the EU.
- Communication Services of VITA Communication.
- Electronic Food Security Network (EFSN) funded by USAID for the Greater Horn Information Exchange (GHAI) is also implemented by UNECA/PADIS.
- GoverNet and COMNET-IT of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
- GreenNet (UK) and SANGONeT (SA) dialup gateways to Internet are serving 15 African countries.
- HealthNet supported by SatelLife provides satellite store & forward access to 10 African countries.
- INET workshops for developing countries organized by ISOC had 90 African participants in 1996.
- InfoDev project initiated by the World Bank is a multi donor fund.
- Internet in Africa of Scitor Globetel (previously SITA)
- Live Internet projects of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands will connect 5 African Universities.
- Radio Network of UNWFP.
- Regional Informatics Network for Africa (RINAF) of UNESCO has intended to establish 6 regional and 14 national nodes in Africa.
- Réseaux Electroniques Francophones d'Information (REFER) and Système francophone d'édition et de diffusion (SYFED) of AUPELF/UREF have started to install information servers in several French speaking African countries.
- Regional Environmental Information Management Project (REIMP) of the World Bank is looking to connect participating institutions in Central Africa.
- Regional Networking projects from Cairo of RITSEC
. - Regional Telematic Network Services (RTNS) of ICCID is implementing a project funded by EU to provide commercial online communication services to the Great Horn of Africa countries.
- RIO (Réseau Intertropical d'Ordinateurs) network of ORSTOM has established UUCP nodes in 12 French African countries.
- Special Initiative on Africa of UN Secretary General includes telematics and is looking for 11 M$.
- Sub-regional Telematics Policy & Sensitization workshops in Africa is supported by the Africa Bureau of UNDP.
- Sustainable Development Network Programme (SDNP) of UNDP is assisting with local telematics network development in several African countries.
- Telematics Projects of ITU in Africa include pilot rural projects rural &
assistance with PTC.
- Telematics Projects of SADC has been funded by EU for giving access to SADC partners in Southern Africa.

- AIESEC International (International Association of Students interested in Economics & Business Management) : local collaborator group of enthusiastic students trained by Gondwana and responsible for monitoring & surveying local ISP & advice on Internet services & providers.
