    This timeline covers most of the main milestones / events in the history of the NQN site and the wider project, and a few key dates in related work at MIPC.

    1991
    October;  MIPC established at MMU 

    1993
    September;  MIPC organises first National Conference on the Night-Time Economy

    1994
    Autumn;  City Centre Research prepare report on ‘Culture & The Northern Quarter’

    1995
    March;   Northern Quarter Regeneration Study published. 

       MIPC begins action research on NQN project

    June;   MIPC begins NQN start-up phase 
     

    Autumn;  MIPC publishes short report on NQ and NQN
       project on MIPC Website

     

    1996
    January;  Work starts on ICT Survey of NQ SMEs 

    February;  MIPC submits revised ESF/ADAPT bid for NQN. Publishes NQ & NQN Project Overview on MIPC 
       Website 

    April;   Launch of NQN with Seminar attended by local
       policy makers and SMEs. Results of ICT Survey

       published on MIPC Website

       NQN begins work on design of training courses,
       and follow up interviews with NQ SMEs

    May;   Prototype of NQN site goes on-line on as part of 
       MIPC site 

    August;   NQN Website URL (www.nqn.org.uk) registered
       via Poptel. 

    October;  NQN runs 4 training workshops on ‘Rights 
       and Obligations in the Cultural Industries’ 

    December;  NQN runs 3 training workshops on ‘Digital 
       Networks and the Cultural Industries’ 

       NQN publishes print guide to ‘Starting a Cultural 

       Business’

    1997
    April;   MIPC completes study of digital networks 

       strategy for Liverpool’s Duke St/Bold St quarter

     

    Spring;   NQN launches training course on ‘Business Skills 
       in the Cultural Industries’ targeted at SMEs in the

       Music sector 

     

    July;   MIPC/NQN hosts Cultural Production Seminar

    August;   City Council announces plans for city-wide 
       Cultural Industries Development Service (CIDS)

       and associated Cultural Production Audit

    October;  NQN Website public launch. 

    November;  Work starts at MIPC on Cultural Production 
       Audit 

       MIPC and Burns Owen Partnership (BOP) deliver
       Outline Business Plan for CIDS

     

    1998
    January;  ICISS project starts

       First meeting of FOCI

    March;   MIPC begins NQN Review
       MIPC presentation at meeting of EC Cultural 

       Ministers in Manchester

    November;  Launch of FOCI Website
     

    1999
    February;  Launch of Version 2 of NQN Website. Version 1 transferred to MMU server. 

    March;   Launch of ICISS Website.
