MSF's recruitment process

Thank you for your interest in working with MSF in one of our overseas projects. To respond immediately to disasters, MSF keeps a register of volunteers available to work in the field.  Selection of individuals for the MSF register involves the following process:

1) Applying

If you feel that you meet our specific requirements you can apply online by clicking below and filling in our online application form.

If, for any reason, you are unable to apply online, please click here for alternative ways to apply.

2) Interview

You will be invited to attend an interview if we think that your skills and experience match our requirements. Applicants for some positions will be required to take a technical test.

3) Acceptance onto MSF's register

Following a successful interview you will be asked to provide two satisfactory professional references, one of which will need to be from your current/most recent employer.

Please note that all applicants provisionally selected for the MSF UK register will be asked to apply for a disclosure through the Criminal Records Bureau. This record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position with MSF. Click here to see a copy of our policy on the recruitment of ex-offenders and our disclosure handling policy.

4) Once on MSF's register

A Human Resources Officer will provide you with job descriptions and help match you to a position. Once matched, it is likely you will be sent on a one-week preparation course. You will also have briefings in the UK office and operational section prior to your departure to the field, followed by a full briefing on arrival in the field

All potential field volunteers must meet the criteria outlined in the Basic Requirements. So please check those first before looking at the requirements for specific roles (listed below).

5) Responding to applicants

We will try to get back to you regarding your application as soon as possible. However, delays can be caused by high volumes of applicants, so please do contact the relevant HR Officer if you have not heard back from us within two - three weeks. Contact details for the HR department are available here.

MSF UK is an equal opportunities employer. We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
