They're Only Animals (c)Christine
Hankinson/Leeds Postcards2002

Theodor
Adorno (1903-1969) was a German Jewish Intellectual
who fled Nazi Germany for the U.S.A. in the 1930's.
He became one of the leading exponents of cultural theories
put out by the so called Frankfurt School (along
with Habermas, Marcuse et al) His seminal critique of
the culture industry posited that the media churned
out a debased mass of unsophisticated sentimental products
which replaced 'difficult' and critical reflective art
forms which might lead people to question the dominant
ideology.
