LP496 One day...(c) Leeds Postcards

Martin Luther-King was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1929. He first attracted international attention in the struggle to de-segregate the southern States of America with the 1955 bus boycott in Montgomery, Alabama. Over the next decade he supported and helped organise many other actions and campaigns.

His prophetic and inspiring vision of equality and dignity for US blacks ('I have a dream...') has echoed down the years. He was assassinated - with the apparent complicity of the FBI and CIA.
