Members receive full legal representation for accidents at work, or arising out of their employment. The Union may also provide legal assistance for accidents occurring outside of work. All questions regarding this must be dealt with by the local Union Office.

The Union will represent members at Employment Tribunals in respect of unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, and other matters covered by employment law. Members should contact their Union Office before pursuing any claims.

The Union will also provide representation where members require assistance with unemployment, sickness or other Social Security Benefit matters.

  Sickness and Accident Benefit
12 weeks at £4 per week. (This benefit is paid after members have 12 months' continuous membership).
  Dispute Benefit
12 weeks at £18 per week. (Should a strike or lock-out extend over a longer period than 12 weeks, the National Executive Committee has power to use its discretion in agreeing further benefit).
  Death Benefit
A Death Benefit of £1,500 will be paid to the Estate of any member sho dies before the age of 65.
For members aged 65 and over, a Death Benefit of £300 will be paid over to their Estate.

  How much does it cost?

KFAT membership is excellent value for money. Our rates are well below the average contribution levels of other UK unions, making KFAT one of the least expensive unions in the European Union.

Scale One: Open to all members, the rate from the 1st January, 2001 is £1.75 per week. Members paying this rate are entitled to all the KFAT benefits listed above.

Scale Two: £0.88 per week from 1st January 2001, open only to members working 16 hours a week or less. However, members on this rate are not entitled to sickness benefit, and death benefit is limited to £1000.
