Workplace
Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of
Employment) Regulations 1981 (TUPE):
Government Proposals for Reform - A Response from the Graphical, Paper
and Media Union
TUPE has created difficulties for both employers and workers over the last 20
years. The GPMU welcomes the decision by the Government to review this
legislation. However, we do not want this review to place even greater emphasis
on the needs of a business over the Government's responsibility to conform to
the Acquired Rights Directive and the need to give greater protection to
employees caught up in the middle of a transfer.
