Siamese accent for The King and I

This is the workshop page for the Siamese accent used in Pain and Panic's recent production of The King and I in the Tolbooth Theatre, Stirling.

The present-day names for Siam and Siamese are Thailand and Thai, so in the workshop we called them that. We agreed that, although many of the Thai principals in the drama were no doubt educated at Eton and Balliol and spoke the most beautiful Received Pronunciation, their speech should nonetheless for dramatic purposes be given a Thai colouring.
