INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed Cuban poet and editor, Norberto Codina, speaking at a day-school in Sheffield organised by the South Yorkshire CSC in November.
More than 70 people took part in the dayschool at Sheffield University Students' Union. Afterwards, Norberto described as one of the best meetings of his tour.
Norberto, editor of the Union of Artists' and Writers' journal, La Gaceta de Cuba, was in Britain for a month long tour organised by Pathfinder Books who sell subscriptions to the publication in Britain.
He visited London, Sheffield and Manchester among many other locations giving poetry readings and talks on Cuban culture today at University and community groups including a very successful evening meeting with members of London's Latin-American community at the Praxis Centre, Bethnal Green.
Norberto also took part in a Spanish language poetry festival in London organised through the Mexican Embassy.
"I would like to express my thanks to all CSC members who made me so welcome during my stay," he says., "I was most impressed by the good solidarity work that is going on in Britian."
