 Meeting of Solidarity Among Women for Equality, Development and Peace

THE Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) is to host a special conference in Havana aimed at creating an international women's movement against the effects of neo-liberalism.

The Meeting of Solidarity Among Women for Equality, Development and Peace, is being organised jointly with the Women's International Democratic Federation (WIDF) and the Continental Front for Women for a Life of Dignity.

It will take place in Havana from the 13th to 16th April next year and is open to all women who are struggling for advancement.

the event already has the support of regional organisations such as the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action and the Sao Paolo Forum. In Britain members of CSC are organising a preparatory committee to raise money and encourage as large a delegation of british women to go as possible.

The agenda Is as follows:

April 13: Official opening

April 14 Working commissions on the following:

Women Economy and sustainable development

Women, political participation and decision making

Women, health, education, culture and social security.

Women and the media.

Women, violence and discrimination.

Women, national independence , sovereignty and peace.

April 15: Day of solidarity with Cuba.

April 16: Closing plenary

The cost of attending will be the air fare plus special concessionary prices in hotels ranging from $180 dollars to $955 full board (depending on star rating and whether sharing)and transfers. The cost of inscription will be $30. Extra trips to see various different centres for women are also acvailable at a cost of around $40.
