Association for the use of
Telematics in Economic Development

The Association for the use of Telematics in Economic Development (ATED) is an open network of cities offering mutual support and co-operation in developing concrete applicatons for the use of new technology in the framework of economic development. The ATED was set up with funding from Ouverture as a result of the Telemart and Partner projects. These projects were set up to develop economic activity between the cities and regions involved including trading links. See the Index for more details of information available.

Formed in March 1995 in Brussels, founder members include:

Chemnitz in Germany

Manchester in the UK

Riga in Latvia

and

Popovo in Bulgaria

Since that time St Peterburg in Russia has become a member and Volgograd is soon to join the network.

In the future it is anticipated that closer links will be formed between the ATED members and the Telecities network.
